I have a '75 R75 /6 and I am sick of the stock master cylinder. I'm wondering about getiing a nice low profile Brembo assembly (handlebar mounted) and swapping. Anyone have personal experience or any tips on sizing? Thanks!

Mon, February 11, 2008 - 9:00 PMoooh, best brakes I ever used, on any bike. Too bad it would be such butchery to do it to my /5.

Re: Advice/feedback on switching master cylinders?
Fri, February 15, 2008 - 5:12 PMWell, I rebuilt the cylinder as it was leaky when I bought the bike (2 1/2 years ago). Now the master cylinder seems to be leaking again. It has been 2 years of riding with maybe five thousand miles on the bike in my ownership. I just don't know about buying another rebuild kit, I feel like it may be throwing good money after bad. Seems like spending 150 on a brembo bar mounted unit might be wiser if it is a simple conversion. I guess with the hose and what not it would be a good bit more than that but... just looking for tips. Is it normal to have to throw a kit into a cylinder after 2years/ 5000 miles? Doesn't seem like it should be -

Re: Advice/feedback on switching master cylinders?
Mon, February 18, 2008 - 7:24 PMI agree that you shouldn't have to rebuild every 5k/2 years. Seems unusual. Maybe a faulty casting of the cylinder? I've seen the conversions and they look fine and of course being able to easily check fluid is a huge safety plus. I can't imagine it being that difficult. Might as well replace the brake line with stainless while you're at it.
