Has any ridden the new 800cc twin? I read an article in CycleWorld (I think). It got good reviews, but some real world commentary would be nice. I haven't seen one in any of the dealerships here out west. I believe it is an "F" model, but not real sure.

Re: New 800cc parallel twin model
Sun, March 18, 2007 - 12:09 PMI'd be interested in the comments, too. Am seriously looking into the F800S. Have heard very good things about the toothed-belt drive train. The belts are made of Kevlar and the Harley guys have been using them (and loving them) for quite some time. I'm interested in it for the weight, @425lbs with a full tank of gas. I'm hoping that the adjustments to suit my vertically--challenged inseam would be implemented by lowering the front forks and using a short Works shock (which was done to my K75).

Re: New 800cc parallel twin model
Sun, March 18, 2007 - 1:02 PMI have never done any mechanical modifications to my F650. It weighs 411 wet.
the 800 looks really good. The engine is designed by BMW and Rotax. Rotax is the world's largest seller of small engines.

Re: New 800cc parallel twin model
Mon, June 4, 2007 - 9:44 AMSeveral weeks ago the local BMW dealers invited a bunch of us out to test ride the new models. The 800F was one of them and it is a ball to ride. Very quick, great handling and I think they have a winner. At least for those of us who love BMWs. I had no noticeable issue, but them we only rode about a 6 mile course. I will tell you I was very surprised that the dealer led us thru some twisties and near hooligan speeds. (the new 1200S wheelies at over 100). -

Mon, June 4, 2007 - 9:55 AMAhhh test rides...
have you ever ridden the f650? I just ask because I'd like a comparison. I've been checkin with the Sparks, NV dealer and they haven't had one. Maybe I'll check back again. Otherwise I may just have to take a ride to Vegas or Salt Lake city.
Thanks for the update. -

Re: New 800cc parallel twin model
Fri, June 8, 2007 - 8:11 AMThe new BMW ON magazine has a great article about the F800s (S and ST).
The writer, a woman, had some really great things to say about it and I'm really psyched about getting mine ordered. This month they start production on FACTORY-LOWERED F800s that'll take them down to 29.9 inches (with the lowered seat kit). -
