Where do I begin? Might as well pull up a chair.....
First let me state that in no way do I blame Steve Johns for TRYING to sell me a bike. I finally decided in June to purchase the F800S from Bogarts (Birmingham, AL). That was when I heard that BMW was factory-lowering the bikes (for only $175), as opposed to spending another $1000 for an aftermarket shock. I gave a deposit and watched as Steven entered the order into the system. I was told that I should be looking for my new bike in the fall.
In July, Steve checks on my order to see if it was in cue, and doesn't see it. He contacts the BMWNA Rep to see what the deal was and was told that they weren't going to lower the bikes until January. He (the Rep) had very little concern for my situation. Told Steve to tell me to just buy the shock. Very disappointing. BTW - No Notice of the schedule change.
So I wait patiently for my bike, thinking it'll be here this spring. I got a call from Steve today telling me that when he went to check on my bike, the order was gone. When he checked on it, he was told that they were not going to make the F800S anymore and that my order was canceled. BTW.... No Notice that my order was canceled.
I contacted the Customer Relations people at BMW, told them what you just read here. After being placed on hold for a moment, he comes back and tells me that they were still making the F800S.
WHAT THE PHUK?????
I'm livid... well, I was livid at 10am when I first got the call. Stay tuned, there may be more.....

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE FOR MOTORCYCLISTS AWAITING ARRIVAL OF BMW's F 800 GS
Woodcliff Lake, NJ - January 24, 2008... Motorcycle enthusiasts eagerly
awaiting the arrival of BMW's new F 800 GS will need to be a bit more
patient, as production of the middleweight dual-purpose enduro will be
delayed due to worldwide demand for the popular F 650 GS. The F 800 GS is
expected to be available at US BMW Motorrad retailers in Fall 2008, making
it a 2009 model.

GUZZI, GUZZI, GOO - THANK YOU BMW...
Tue, January 29, 2008 - 8:19 AMHaving been with BMW for 25 years and having them break my heart, I think I found the best revenge. Patience my ass, I wanted to kill something!! (to paraphrase "Buzzard Snoopy")
I drove to Dallas last weekend and picked up my new bike - a 2007 Breva 750 Moto Guzzi. It had been lowered for it's previous owner (we're both at 5') and she could touch the ground. When I sat on it, I felt like "Cylinderella" - the show fit!! During the 13hr drive home I came up with her name - BELLA -as in CIAO BELLA! Check my photos for her picture.
I'm going to send a picture with me pointing at a big smile on my face and pointing at the MG logo, with a sign saying GUZZI, GUZZI, GOO - THANK YOU BMW!!! and send it to BMWNA, BMWON Magazine and to Ray Zimmerman (a member of my club and personal friend). -

Re: What the Phuk????
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 1:56 PMI had a very interesting conversation with my Dad, who used to do a lot of business between Europe and the US. He had heard about the "problems" with the US BMW orders on the F800 series bikes and had what I think is the best explanation of why BMW did what it did with little or no explanation or apology...
Exchange rates. Simply put, if they fullfill their orders with the current strength of the dollar, they will lose their margin completely... better not to ship any bikes (exchange rates are applied based upon the shipment/tariff dates) at all and just sit on the inventory (or ship it elsewhere than the US) until the rates are favorable.
Makes the most sense to me... what do ya'll think? -

Re: What the Phuk????
Mon, February 18, 2008 - 9:18 AMwhen they build a bike that lasts
so we gladdly run our airheads for 100, 200, 300k miles
they better kick the accountants in the ass
and ship bikes to those riders who ride for the love of it
otherwise we might as well straddle our jewels
on a honda or suzuki
not that there is anything wrong with that
other then
um
why do i ride bmw again?
